Custom Shoes in Delhi — What to Expect and What It Costs

Custom shoemaking in Delhi is less rare than most people assume, and less expensive than they fear. The word "custom" has acquired associations with extreme luxury and unattainable prices, but in practice, commissioning a pair of custom leather shoes at a workshop like ours is a straightforward process with a clear outcome: a shoe made specifically for your foot and your brief. And you don't have to be in Delhi to start — we now offer the full process virtually as well.

What custom actually means

Custom means made to order from scratch, to your specific measurements. Unlike made-to-measure (which adjusts a standard pattern to your size), custom starts from a last selection and modification process based on actual measurements of your foot. The pattern is then developed from that last, the leather is cut to order, and the shoe is constructed specifically for you.

The result is a shoe that fits your particular foot — including differences between your left and right foot, unusual instep height, wide forefoot, narrow heel, or any other variation from the standard. Off-the-shelf shoes are made to fit average feet. Custom shoes are made to fit your feet.

The process: in-studio or virtual

It starts with a consultation — a conversation about what you need the shoes for, what styles interest you, and what your priorities are (fit above everything, or a specific design, or a particular leather). From there, we take detailed measurements of both feet individually and begin the last selection and modification process.

If you're in Delhi, this happens in person at our Okhla studio. If you're not, we do it virtually: you send us photos and measurements of both feet following a simple guide we provide, and we walk you through it over a call, reconfirming the details with you a few times before we cut anything. Precision matters more with custom shoes than off-the-shelf, so the extra back-and-forth is worth it — the end result and delivery timeline are the same either way.

You choose your design (from our in-house styles or a commission), your leather (from our stock of full-grain calfskins, suedes, and textured options), your sole construction, your heel height, and your colour or patina. We confirm the details before beginning, and the shoes are made over the following 5 to 12 weeks depending on the level of customisation.

If the fit isn't right when the shoes arrive, we remake them at no charge.

What it costs

Custom shoes start from ₹18,000, whether made in-studio or virtually. The price varies depending on the complexity of the design, the leather selected, and the sole construction. Hand-painted patinas add to the cost. Exotic leathers (crocodile, python) are priced on request.

For context: a pair of our ready-to-wear shoes costs ₹7,000–12,000. The custom premium reflects the additional measurement and fitting work, the last modification, and the fact that the shoe is made individually rather than in a batch.

Who it's for

Custom shoemaking makes the most sense for people with difficult-to-fit feet — unusual width, significant left-right asymmetry, orthopaedic requirements. It also makes sense for people who want a specific design that doesn't exist in our ready-to-wear range, or who want a particular leather or colour combination.

For feet that fit standard lasts reasonably well, our ready-to-wear collection is a better value proposition. The quality of the leather and construction is the same — only the fit precision differs.
